Browns executive makes Three Stooges reference at Pettine Presser
For fans of the Cleveland Browns, it’s been a rough ride.
Often referred to as a laughing stock of the NFL, it’s no surprise that someone finally came out and said it to the face of owner Jimmy Haslam. A day after firing head coach Rob Chudzinski just one year into his tenure as the Browns head man, a local reporter asked if the team was being run by the Three Stooges.
“We understand why there might be some skepticism. We also understand the importance of getting it right,” Haslam said in response to the question.
The Browns coaching search went on for quite some time. So long that guys were pulling their name from consideration because they were taking forever. The wait made fans grow impatient and Haslam penned a letter to fans asking them to be patient.
Now, in late January, the Browns finally have a head coach as Bills defensive coordinator Mike Pettine was announced as the Franchise’s 15th head coach.
During the introductory press conference, Browns executive Joe Banner made a reference to the infanmous Three Stooges question.
“Since Mike Lombardi and I are Moe and Larry, we set out to find Curly.” Banner told reporters, via NFL Network’s Andrew Siciliano.
The Browns have been a running joke, but fans are hoping that Pettine is the guy to turn things around and he’d better do it fast because recent history tells that the Browns are not patient.
