Cam Newton calls Carolina Panthers’ season ‘humbling’
After setting more than one rookie quarterback record and winning the NFL rookie of the year, Carolina Panthers’ quarterback Cam Newton set high expectations for his sophomore season. Some analysts were going as far as predicting the Panthers would win the NFC South or at least make the playoffs.
Newton’s sophomore season has been nothing but a disappointment. Some critics of Newton took this season as their chance to criticize the quarterback. Some have gone as far as to label Newton a bust. While the disappointing season is the result of more than just Cam Newton, his handling of the situation has been embarrassing.
While doing a radio interview Wednesday, Newton called his sophomore season “humbling”.
“I’ve learned so much about myself,” Newton said Wednesday, via Grant Paulsen of WJFK-FM. “Has it been humbling? Yes.”
“I’m just going to keep living and keep playing this game,” he said. “Sooner or later, things will work out.“
If the Panthers can put some talent around Newton and change their offensive play calling, they could be a successful team.
Until then, it will be up to Newton to change his attitude about losing.
