Cam Newton locked himself in his house after loss to 49ers
Cam Newton led the Carolina Panthers through an extraordinary 12-4 season. A division crown, a playoff bye week and the 2nd seed.
It was a huge improvement from the 7-9 that he led the Panthers to in 2012, but it wasn’t enough as the Panthers were bounced from the Playoffs by the 49ers in the divisional round.
Cam, who was more upbeat and energetic all season took the loss as hard as anyone would – to the point he didn’t even come out of the house for some time, nor did he pay any attention to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game.
“It was hard. I was salty, and still am to a degree,” Newton said via the Charlotte Observer. “There’s been times when I didn’t even come out of the house, didn’t want to come out of the house. Didn’t want to watch ESPN, didn’t focus on the game that they played because it wasn’t important to me.”
But fear not, Panthers fans. Cam says that he isn’t going to let things hold him down – he’s going to use the feeling as motivation to be even better in 2014.
“But having that same taste in my mouth will be the driving force to my preparation in the offseason.” Cam said.
That hunger starts tonight, as Cam prepares himself for his second Pro-Bowl in three seasons.
