No charges for 49ers LB Aldon Smith after fake bomb threat
One of Aldon Smith’s 372 pending charges was taken care of today, as it was reported that he won’t face any charges for his April 13th incident in which he claimed to have a bomb at Los Angeles International Airport.
The news from the city’s attorney’s office was reported by ESPN’s Adam Schefter earlier today.
Smith, who faces suspension this season for several off the field issues, will be glad that one of the legal issues has been resolved.
He’s been arrested for several DUI’s, was stabbed at his home and faced charges for weapons at that same party, was arrested on gun charges in a seperate accident that didn’t involve driving under the influence, amongst other things.
Last season the ferocious linebacker took time away from the team to better himself in a rehabilitation setting. Since his entrance into the NFL he’s been a dominant force, and the 49ers seem to support him a long the way. They recognize that he has some problems, but continue to put him on the field as he constantly produces.
The NFL is likely to step in and discipline the 24-year-old before the season starts and it puts his availability up in the air. The troubled star seems to have his nose clean as of now, but it’s only been a few months since his last incident.
Hopefully he straightens up and is able to overcome those problems because he has a bright future in the league for many years to come.
