Chris Canty believes Joe Flacco is a better QB than Eli Manning
This off-season, after four years with New York, former Giants defensive lineman Chris Canty joined the Baltimore Ravens. Before playing a single game on the same team as Joe Flacco, Canty still believes he is a better quarterback than former teammate Eli Manning.
How did Canty come to this conclusion?
“Because he won a Super Bowl and he’s one of the best deep-ball throwers in the National Football League,” Canty told NBC Sports’ Pro Football Talk. “Absolutely. Take a look at the tape.”
Canty credits Eli for being “good in clutch situations when you’ve got to have that fourth-quarter drive,” Canty believes more in Flacco.
“He throws a beautiful deep ball, he throws it only where the receivers can get their hands on it,” Canty said. “You’re talking about in the vertical passing game and they’ve got some vertical pass threats. They got Torry Smith. They’ve got [Dennis] Pitta. They’ve got [Ed] Dickson. They’ve got some good weapons for him to use down the field.”
It makes sense for Canty to favor his current quarterback over his previous quarterback.
Although Flacco can throw a great deep pass, Manning knows how to lead his team to a come from behind win.
Both quarterbacks have won Super Bowls, both quarterbacks are team leaders and both quarterbacks can bring their team back to the Super Bowl.
In the end, I would guess Giants players would pick Manning and Ravens players would pick Flacco.
For me, I would rather have Eli Manning than Joe Flacco.
