Christian Ponder will be a Viking in 2014
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder will hang around with the Vikings for another year. GM Rick Spielman said Ponder “will be here” next year according ESPN.com’s Ben Goessling.
It seemed like Christian Ponder’s career was done with the Vikings following a very disappointing season. The Vikings went 5-10-11 last season, mostly due to the poor quarterback player, especially from Ponder who made costly turnovers.
I am not surprised at all that Christian Ponder is going to hang around for another year as I still believe in him. Yes, I still have faith in Ponder. I believe that newly hired offensive coordinator Norv Turner is going to coach up Ponder really well. Ponder showed some potential at the end of year and made some unbelievable throws.
Rick Spielman also gave us a hint about the upcoming NFL Draft. Spielman added that the Vikings 8th pick in the 1st round won’t really be used on a quarterback. Spielman said “It’s not going to be a forced issue”, per the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Spielman also said the team plans on adding ‘2 more quarterbacks’ (probably one from free agency and draft)
Most Viking fans won’t really be happy with the Vikings decision to keep Ponder, but I’m glad were Keeping Ponder around. I still think Ponder has potential to be a good NFL quarterback. It will be very interesting to see what the Vikings do in the coming weeks.
