A breaking story is developing in Irving, Texas. According to Andrew Lynch of Fox Channel 4 in Kansas City, MO., Cowboys nose tackle Josh Brent has been listed as an inmate at the Irving Municipal Jail for intoxication manslaughter.

Brent, according to Lynch, was booked into the jail at 4:14 a.m. CST on Saturday morning. The name of the deceased has not yet been released. Here’s two tweets from two sources on the incident.

Adding onto the scenario, the man dead is allegedly a teammate. We’ll continue to keep you updated as more info emerges.

UPDATE: Reports are swirling as of now. The Irving Police Department has confirmed that Joshua Price-Brent (Josh Brent) has been checked into the jail on intoxication manslaughter chargers.

It also has been confirmed by Ian Rapoport of that Brent is not on the team’s flight to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals in a must-win game, and he is, in fact, in a Irving (Texas) Jail. Rapoport also confirmed the reports that Jerry Brown Jr., an outside linebacker on the Cowboys practice squad, was the passenger in Brent’s car, and is deceased.

We also know that alcohol, clearly was involved. And according to the Promoter/Event Coordinator for Privae Dallas, players were in her building on Friday night.

Another report, regarding the accident itself, has been released by the Irving Police Department.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones released a statement on Saturday.

We are deeply saddened by the news of this accidents and the passing of Jerry Brown. Our hearts and prayersand deepest sympathies are with the members of Jerry’s family and all of those who knew him and loved him.”

Here are some quick facts on the Ratliff-Brown relationship:

1. The two were teammates at the University of Illinois, and, obviously, in Dallas.

2. The two, allegedly, are currently roommates.

3. Brent plead guilty to a DUI in college.

Those three facts lead up to the crash early on Saturday morning that killed one, and likely ended the other’s NFL career. Be sure to spend some time to say a prayer for those who loved and cared for Jerry Brown. Another sad Saturday in the NFL.

Not only have two tragedies taken place over the last two weekends, but two daughters have been left without a father as well. According to Robert Little of, Jerry Brown was soon to be a father to a daughter. This is his Facebook post on settling down, just over a week ago.

A story like this is so sad. Brown, a member of the practice squad, seems to just be keeping his head above water. Just trying to keep his hopes and dreams of an NFL career alive. Ready to settle down, with a family. It makes it even more saddening to see him go. I can’t imagine what his family is going through. Again, pray for them and send them your best wishes. Tragedy strikes again.
