Darrelle Revis Takes Shot at Jets Owner?

Darrelle Revis Takes Shot at Jets Owner?

On Tuesday, the New York Post did what it does best and that’s stir up controversy. This time, the Post took advantage of the current dissension in the New York Jets locker room, particularly one Darrelle Revis. Revis isn’t happy, and he isn’t being shy about it.

The New York Post’s back cover on Tuesday featured a big picture of Revis with a caption that said “CHEAP SHOT” in big bold font. The back cover can be seen below:

The article stems from an interview Revis had with the NFL Network’s Andrea Kremer. During the interview, he was asked if head coach Rex Ryan had anything to do with bringing Revis back to the Jets.

“I’m sure he’ll have a say so, but overall, no,” Revis said. “I mean, no, you know? It starts from the top. It starts with (team owner) Woody Johnson.”

Kremer then asked him if he felt like team owner Woody Johnson is reluctant to pay him to keep him with the team.

“That might be a situation,” Revis replied. “That might be something. That might be an option.”

The article that was written for the New York Post about the comments (which was written by Steve Serby) called the comments a “cheap shot” and a “challenge to (Woody) Johnson”

Whether or not it was a call-out to the owner or if it was just Revis speaking his mind (which he hasn’t shied away from in the past), I don’t think the New York Post blew this out of proportion. Revis is coming off a torn ACL and his job is definitely in jeopardy with the Jets. This seems like a smart move by Revis to get Johnson to respond. Whether or not Johnson will respond the way Revis hopes he will is a different story, and one we’ll definitely be keeping our eye on in the coming weeks/months.
