Demaryius Thomas: I wish Tim Tebow stayed in Denver
It has been a confusing off-season for Denver’s wide receiver Demaryius Thomas in terms of his relationship with Tim Tebow. In April, upon Tebow landing with the New York Jets, Thomas said he was not getting any balls with Tebow at quarterback.
“I wasn’t getting no balls and you had to make some of these plays where some players were open and he is not making the throws.”
“Everything on ESPN was all about Tim,” Thomas said. “That bothered some players too because they would say ‘Tim Tebow Time.’ I felt like it was a team thing. If it wasn’t for the defense most of the time there wouldn’t be no supposed ‘Tim Tebow Time.’”
It seems as though Thomas has had a change of heart.
“Me and Tim, if you look at our stats, we had a great year together,” Thomas said on the NFL Network, via Nate Davis of USA Today. “And I wish he would have stayed around so maybe he could have learned some things from Peyton. But it’s over with now, and we’ve got Peyton on our side, so I’m just looking forward to the season.”
It was diplomatic of Thomas to wish Tebow could have stayed around to learn from Manning but he did not have to make another comment on Tebow. He could have just expressed how excited he was to work with Peyton Manning. It makes sense for Thomas to be happier with Manning. When has a wide receiver ever been upset about having a Hall of Fame quarterback?
