DeSean Jackson and Robert Griffin III: Who Will Wear No. 10?
When free agent wide receiver DeSean Jackson signed with the Washington Redskins, one little footnote that has escaped the national spotlight is who will wear No. 10 on their jerseys. Per Tarik El-Bashir, Redskins Insider for Comcast Sportnet Washington, Jackson had a lot to say about the number during a conference call with reporters:
I definitely am familiar on the No. 10 [worn by] Robert Griffin. We’ve talked about it a little bit. But that isn’t a decision that’s been made yet so far.
Jackson commented further, going as far to hint that maybe it is Griffin who should make the change:
Maybe by the time the season starts we’ll know. Maybe RG3 will wear No. 3 and I’ll try to get in [No.] 10. We’ll see how it goes, though. You never know.
Even though he said it with a laugh, Jackson should know better. The face of the franchise is Griffin right now, and there is little doubt that the Redskins front office would push the issue to satisfy even the most diva of receivers. If somehow Jackson is wearing No. 10 in 2014, it will be because Griffin willingly changed numbers to accommodate Jackson. Griffin tweeted later that he would definitely not be the one changing his number:

UPDATE: Jackson will wear #11 and the Redskins already have his jersey on sale here.
