Donovan McNabb Signs a Broadcasting Deal

Well, Donovan McNabb may be accepting reality. The season starts today and he’s yet to work out for a team – let alone sign with one. As perception becomes reality, McNabb is ready to move on and put the game behind him.

McNabb, 35, last seen the football field as a member of the Minnesota Vikings before asking for his release. He requested to be released in hopes of landing a job with a team that had lost it’s starter for the season. Many thought it would have been his hometown Chicago Bears, whose quarterback Jay Cutler had fallen to a thumb injury that cost him the final stretch of the season – but McNabb was never picked up.

He’s now accepted a gig as a Broadcaster, and will be working for Maxx Sports and agent Mark Lepselter in preparation for work with one or more networks according to Liz Mullen of the Sports Business Journal.

McNabb has done some work for the NFL Network and ESPN in the past as a guest, and has done really well at it. Broadcasting seems like the natural step for a guy that lived the game day in and day out. He’ll have a chance to remain close in league circles while doing this.

I personally would still like to see McNabb get one more shot on the field – but I too have accepted reality and realize I will not likely see one of my favorite quarterbacks do his thing.

Here’s to one hell of a career and good luck moving forward, Donovan!
