Since being drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in 2002, all line backer Dwight Freeney has known is Peyton Manning at quarterback. For the first time in his career, Freeney’s team is being led by a player not named Peyton Manning.

Currently, the Manning led Denver Broncos are leading the AFC West while the Indianapolis Colts are holding onto one of the Wild Card spots. With half of the season in the books, this could mean the Broncos and Colts could face each other in the playoffs.

If you ask Freeney, that is one match up he would be looking forward to because of one reason, hitting Peyton Manning.

For most of his career, Freeney has only seen Manning as his own quarterback and a player he could not hit during practice. Now, Freeney hopes he gets the opportunity to bring Manning to the ground.

“Peyton obviously (was) the staple of Indianapolis and this organization for years. I went after him in practice year in and year out and never got a chance to hit him. So, yeah, I would love to hit him,” Freeney said in an interview with Dave Dameshek of NFL.com “If you think about it, that’ll be strange, but I’ll be excited.”

While there is still plenty of football left to be played, it certainly would be fun to watch Manning have to face his old team and Dwight Freeney in the playoffs.
