Ed Reed: “I’m not focused on that. Right now, it’s playoffs, it’s Denver, it’s football”

Arguably one of the best players in the league, Ed Reed, is not considering retirement even though his longtime teammate, Ray Lewis played his last home game with the Ravens on Sunday afternoon.

Ed Reed is in the final year of his contract with the Baltimore Ravens but, is not ready to call it quits just yet.

“I’m football. I’m completing this year, and like I always tell you, I assess it every year. I assess myself every year physically. A guy in football, if he doesn’t do that, something’s wrong. So I’m not worried about that. I’m not focused on that. Right now, it’s playoffs, it’s Denver, its football,” he tells around the league writer Marc Sessler.

Reed is a 34-year old safety, heading into his 12th season as an NFL player. It is very doubtful that he will be signed to large contract, especially with some recent injuries to his neck and shoulder. He still has a great ability to play his position well, tying the team lead for interceptions this season with four.

The Baltimore Ravens organization hasn’t spoken out on whether they will re-sign Ed Reed or not. Personally, I’m sure that if the Ravens no longer want Ed Reed, another team will gladly add him to their roster. Only time will tell.
