Falcons sign LB Brian Banks

In a feel-good story, this morning the Atlanta Falcons signed LB Brian Banks.

Many may wonder if this is publicity stunt or if it’s the real deal – I am leaning towards the real deal. Banks is a stud backer, largely recruited and had all the tools to be a great Linebacker before being sent to prison after being accused of raping a female in High School.

Banks spent five years in prison and another five years on parole before being exonerated of the crime after the female came forward and said it was all made up.

It changed Banks’ life forever, and he still wanted his shot in the NFL.

Last season, shortly after being exonerated Banks made his rounds visiting several NFL teams including Pete Carroll’s Seahawks. Banks was a USC commit, and Carroll is the ex-USC head coach. Upon hearing the news Carroll brought Banks in for a workout, unfortunately he wasn’t offered a contract.

Banks later visited the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, where again, an offer was not put out.

Banks started working with Fox Sports’ insider Jay Glazer doing MMA workouts and prepping for another crack at the NFL. Glazer reported the news this morning, and as one can imagine he was pretty stoked for his buddy.

His story was featured on CBS’ 60 minutes, if you have some time and want to see a good story, we’ve supplied the video below.
