Giants trying to acquire LB Jon Beason from Carolina
The New York Giants are a mess. They need a lot to fix their many issues, but a solid linebacker and a bit of leadership may help the team a bit. It definitely won’t elevate them to the playoffs right away, but they need a ton of help.
The team knows the position is a major need, and has been for years, so they’re trying to pull the trigger on LB Jon Beason from the Panthers, according to Fox Sports Jay Glazer.
Panthers source says they are working a trade that would send pro bowl LB Jon Beason to the Giants, who sorely need defensive help

Beason has been a solid player for the Panthers since being drafted 25th overall in 2007, appearing in three pro bowls and being named first team all pro in 2008 and 2009. His luck as of late has been streaky coming off of a micro-fracture surgery that’s left him less than 100% and being benched in favor of Chase Blackburn last weekend.
The Giants could definitely use an extra pair of eyes (0r 10) on defense as they continue to get lit up every weekend. Beason could be just that guy with a change of scenery and he could bring a little toughness to a team that’s rolled over every week.
Beason was placed on IR last October with a knee injury for Carolina. With Luke Kuechly coming into his own, Beason is expendable.
The trade rumors swirling say that the Giants will be giving up a late-round pick for the former first rounder.
