Graham Harrell believes he’ll be ready if Aaron Rodgers goes down

It is hard to be a back up to one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. While Matt Cassel did well when he had to step in for Tom Brady, others such as Jim Sorgi and Shaun Hill (and yes I just called Matt Stafford a top QB) did not. Green Bay Packers backup Graham Harrell seems to know this and believes he is up to the challenge if Aaron Rodgers gets hurt.

Harrell has never played in an NFL regular-season game and never looked like an NFL starting quarterback at Texas Tech, or during his tenure in the Canadian Football league. However, he told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he believes in himself and that the Packers will be okay if Rodgers goes down.

“As a quarterback, you better be confident in yourself and believe in yourself,” Harrell said. “I believe in myself. We have a great support staff and a great group of people in Green Bay. They get quarterbacks ready to play and train quarterbacks. I’ve learned from some of the best in the business.”

It is doubtful that the Packers would be “okay” if Rodgers went down since he is a Pro-Bowler, regular season and Super Bowl MVP. It is hard to believe in backups and I doubt Packers fans want to find out if Harrell can play.
