Gronk Want Cake! Life-size Cake Made of Rob Gronkowski
Per a tweet from the Patriots official Twitter feed and a report from Chris Reidy of the Boston Globe, New England Patriots All Pro tight end Rob Gronkowski was presented with a life-size replica of himself as part of the Dunkin’ Donuts “DD Gronkoff” FaceBook Sweepstakes. The cake, created by Montilio’s Baking Co., used enough ingredients for 15 sheet cakes, but as you can see from the picture, it’s still not quite the same size as the 6′ 6″, 265-pound super star. Per bakery owner George Montilio, the replica’s frame was supported by a cast-iron frame and bist of Styrofoam, and it took about 80 hours of work to complete the project.
As a pitchman for Dunkin’ Donuts, Gronkowski participated in a contest in which fans submitted their favorite Gronkowski pose or video as well as pictures of themselves next to a life-size Gronkowski stand-up posters at various Dunkin’ Donuts locations. The winners met with him Tuesday at a special event at the Putnam Club North West Lounge in Gillette Stadium, getting to interact with Gronkowski in a Q&A session, as well as chow down on the Gronk Cake and Dunkin’ Donuts Bakery Sandwiches.
Although no video of the Q&A session has surfaced, it would be priceless if someone filmed Gronkowski saying, “Gronk want cake!”
