Harbaugh on Flacco: “Pay him whatever he wants”

After an impressive 44-13 win over the division rival Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens coach John Harbaugh had some high praise for quarterback Joe Flacco. After the game, Harbaugh was asked about Joe Flacco’s contract situation. Harbaugh seems to have already decided that Baltimore needs to hold on to Flacco regardless of the cost.

Pay him whatever he wants,” Harbaugh said, laughing, via Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun. “Pay the man.”

Flacco was 21-of-29 for 299 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, leading the Ravens to the final 27 points of the blowout. The 44 points were the third-most in a regular season game in franchise history.

For a team that has been defined by their defense over the last decade, the offense looked to trump the defense on Monday. After falling short in the AFC Championship game last year, some questioned if Flacco was a team leader and an elite quarterback. Harbaugh had an answer for those doubters.

“We’ve always stood up here, and we’ve always, all our coaches, the organization, we know what we’ve got in this guy,” Harbaugh said. “Of course he is [elite]. He is a winner. He is one of the toughest quarterbacks I have ever been around. He’s the best quarterback I’ve ever been around.”

One Response to Harbaugh on Flacco: “Pay him whatever he wants”

  • I said it a couple of years ago and I believe it even more now than ever. Flacco is going to develope into another Jonny Unitas. Flacco is cool in the pocket just like Unitas was. If Flacco perfects the forth quarter final two minute sideline pass/ out of bounds stop the clock drill, and if the defense can recover a fumble or intercept the ball. Then Flacco can lead the team to two scores in the final two minutes to win in come from behind situations , just like Unitas and team did over, and over and over ,again and again, and again. Flacco is exceptional and getting better every year. PAY THE MAN AND SIGN HIM
