Jadeveon Clowney, NFL draft prospect who is projected to go #1 overall to the Houston Texans was on Jim Rome earlier today. Rome asked Clowney a series of questions. The biggest one was when Jime Rome asked Clowney “Would you have stayed at South Carolina if you were paid?”

Surprisingly, Clowney answered “Yes”. If Clowney was getting paid in college, he would have stayed with South Carolina for the rest of his college career. Clowney felt like getting paid in college would have made a huge “difference” in terms of his decision to enter the draft. Clowney then mentioned he would have supported his family throughout his college career with the money he would earn, and he also believes college athletes should get paid.

I am very surprised that Clowney would have stayed with South Carolina for the rest of his college career if he was getting paid. I don’t understand why he would stay if he’s decision was based on money, as he would get way more money in the NFL than in College Football.

I wonder if college athletes were to get paid, would all of the athletes earn equal share of money or not? If not, I believe Clowney would have been the highest paid College Football player. It will be very interesting to see what the NCAA decides in the future.
