Jets’ Joe McKnight: They’ll have to kill me to take my spot
Last season, New York Jets running back Joe McKnight attempted only thirty carries for 179 yards. With the addition of Chris Ivory this off-season and the presence of Bilal Powell and Mike Goodson, Joe McKnight may be the odd man out in New York. Just don’t tell that to McKnight.
When asked if he was worried that he was in danger of losing his roster spot, McKnight had some rather extreme words.
“I don’t care who they bring in, they’re going [to have to] kill me to take my spot. You understand that now?” McKnight told the New York Daily News. “Just because they bring Goodson and Ivory in they already think I’m gone. They just bringing people in for competition, they ain’t bringing nobody in to say, ‘Joe is done.’”
“Yeah, I’m going to be on the team, I ain’t going, no damn way,” he said. “They have to beat me to take my spot first. Man, look, they told me it’s a fresh slate.”
Even if he may be cut, it is definitely nice to see a player get worked up about the possibility of losing his job.
