Jets OC: Mark Sanchez’s Accuracy has been ‘Sky High’

Last week Jets head coach Rex Ryan made some noise in calling out his quarterback Mark Sanchez for throwing three interceptions during an eleven-play OTA series. He called the play of Sanchez unacceptable, and was none too pleased with the pick-to-pass ratio.

That led to a later report of many Jets’ players wishing Sanchez replaced, according to an anonymous Jets’ player. (Editors note: Another anonymous Jet, C’mon guys, man up if you’re going to speak out.)

But now, on a completely different hand, Jets OC Marty Mornhinwig, whom has been working closely with Sanchez says that his accuracy and completion percentage have been very impressive.

Mornhinwig told Rich Cimini of ESPN that Sanchez’s “completion percentage and accuracy percentage have been sky high up to date.” and that was after the three interception showdown at OTA’s.

Maybe Marty is trying to pump some confidence into Sanchez going into the season. He’s been absolutely destroyed over the past two seasons, and at nobody’s fault other than his own. He signed a relatively large contract extension after the Jets flirted with Peyton Manning not long ago, and then brought in Tim Tebow.

It’s safe to say that all the signs pointed away from Sanchez, minus the fact that then-GM Mike Tannenbaum decided to give him an “I’m sorry” contract, so besides the money, Mark hasn’t had the backing that he once did when he helped (notice I said helped, not did everything himself) lead them to back-to-back Championship games.

The Jets drafted Geno Smith in April’s draft and some Jets fans have been calling for him to get the starting nod over Sanchez. Mornhinwig may disagree.
