The Jets were a disaster last season, and were supposed to be a disaster this season.

A rookie QB, a new GM and a mess of a head coach – or so they thought.

Many had the Jets under Rex Ryan winning two games top, but he proved them wrong. Ending the season with a two-game winning streak, a strong defense and great showings from their rookies, the Jets finished a respectable 8-8.

The progress made wasn’t expected, and it’s helped Rex Ryan keep his job as Jets head coach moving forward, owner Woody Johnson announced following the team’s win over the Dolphins.

There’s no denying Rex Ryan is a hell of a coach. He may be loud and outspoken at times, but what he’s done over the last five years has been pretty damn good.

I think Johnson made the right decision by retaining Ryan, and time should prove that as well.
