Jets players take to Tinder looking for love
Finding a girlfriend or wife can be difficult for professional athletes. Not only do they have to log long hours at their job but they are also away from home for a large portion of the year. Even if they are able to find a girlfriend, it may be hard to figure out if she is just using the athlete for their money. Because of this, some New York Jets players are taking to the dating app Tinder to find love, anonymously or at least without revealing that they are professional football players.
According to the Wall Street Journal, eleven members of the New York Jets team are actively on Tinder looking for dates. And six of the eleven feature pictures of them in their Jets jersey on the app.
Corner back Kyle Wilson says he uses Tinder to meet girls he wouldn’t normally encounter otherwise and that he is not attracted to football groupies.
“You don’t want anything too easy,” he said.
One of the players, right tackle Breno Giacomini, says he likes to try to stay away from revealing that he is a professional football player because he wants to find something that is real.
“When I do find somebody, I want it to be real,” said New York Jets right tackle Breno Giacomini
Giacomini told the Wall Street Journal that he normally tells girls that he is a construction worker initially, but that normally does not hold up for long when they ask him what he is doing on Sunday.
“A few weeks later, it’s like, ‘What do you have to do on Sunday?'” he said. His reply: “‘I have to do work.'”
The Wall Street Journal didn’t include any details as to whether or not any of the players have been successful in finding significant others. Until then, girls in the New York City area may just come across a few New York Jets players on their Tinder app. But it sounds like, unless they are really familiar with the team, they won’t initially know they are talking to players from the Jets.
