Joe Flacco: Manziel becoming my favorite player in College Football

Joe Flacco knows a thing or two about being a hated man on the football field. Up until he silenced the critics by becoming a Super Bowl MVP, people would bash him left and right. Still, a few months removed from that Super Bowl win, people talk about him as if he’s really not “that guy” to lead them to multiple championships.

Many, like a colleague of mine, doesn’t believe that Flacco is truly a franchise quarterback – they say he got lucky and the defense bailed him out – I call bull ish on that one. The defense didn’t win them a Super Bowl last season, it was Flacco and the offense.

Enter Johnny Football, a man that took the college football world by storm, becoming the youngest player in history to become a Heisman Trophy winner after a historic season.

What goes up must come down, and shortly after his acceptance of the Heisman, people started coming out of the woodwork, bashing him for his personal life, trying to uncover any and everything they could. From partying with NBA Stars to alleged payments for autographing several thousand items for so-called memorabilia agents.

Things haven’t been easy for Manziel, and it seems like he’s gone from hero to zero pretty quick, and Flacco is pulling for the kid.

“I feel like now everybody hates him. He’s quickly becoming my favorite player in college football” Flacco said, via Matt Zenitz of the Carroll County Times.

The underdog pulling for the underdog, I like it.

For me, I’ve always liked both Flacco and Manziel. I don’t get why either of them get knocked for being themselves.
