Joe Flacco: Super Bowl in cold-weather venue ‘retarded’
With the NFL moving the Super Bowl to New York next season, some of the players in this year’s game are talking about the venue change to a cold weather stadium next year. One of those players, was Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco.
While some, including myself, are in favor of moving the Super Bowl to cold weather stadiums, Flacco is firmly opposed to the change.
However, Flacco took it a little too far when he called the change to a cold-weather stadium “retarded”.
“I think it’s retarded,” Flacco said at his Super Bowl news conference Monday, via the Denver Post. “I probably shouldn’t say that. I think it’s stupid. If you want a Super Bowl, put a retractable dome on your stadium. Then you can get one. Other than that I don’t really like the idea. I don’t think people would react very well to it, or be glad to play anybody in that kind of weather.”
While Flacco tried to backtrack a bit on his initial comment, he needs to be a bit more careful with his words.
Using that word is rather offensive and moving the Super Bowl to a cold-weather city is not that serious of a change.
