Johnny Manziel to Meet With Houston Texans Saturday

Per John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Texans will meet with Texan A&M’s Johnny Manziel.

The Aggies’ star quarterback is considered by many to be a top NFL draft prospect, and the Texans will meet with him tomorrow to begin the vetting process of determining if he can be their franchise quarterback. In his two years at Texas A&M, Manziel completed 595 of 863 passes (68.9%) for 7,820 yards, 63 touchdowns, and just 22 interceptions. He was also the first freshman to ever win the Heisman Trophy, awarded to college football’s best player.

Holding the top pick after a disappointing 2-14 season, the Texans have a wide range of options when they pick, including the aforementioned Manziel or the defensive stalwart Jadeveon Clowney from the University of South Carolina. The Texans finished 7th in overall defense, just the second team since 2003 to finish with a top 10 defense and select #1 overall; the 2006 Raiders finished 3rd in overall defense.
