Jordy Nelson says Packers are still the favorites to win the NFC North
On Thursday, as the Chicago Bears beat the New York Giants, they took over the lead in the NFC North with a 4-2 record. However, with a win over the Browns on Sunday, Detroit could recapture the NFC North lead. One team that has been surprisingly absent from atop the NFC North, the Green Bay Packers, still believe they are favorites to win the division.
Wide receiver Jordy Nelson recently told Eric Kuselias of ProFootballTalk.com, that he believes the Packers are still favorites to win the NFC North.
“I know we are behind [the Bears] but we’ve won the division the past few years, and I think we’ve done a great job of winning our division games, which is huge when it comes to winning your division. If you can win your division games it counts somewhat more than a game, but right now I think we are obviously where we are and not where we wanted to be but I think we are fine where we are at, and look forward to the next two games and hopefully making a run here.”
The Packers are currently 1-0 in the division after beating the Lions last Sunday.
There is still twelve weeks of football left and all three teams, Detroit, Green Bay and Chicago, could win the NFC North.
Still, it is hard to argue against past success and players like Aaron Rodgers.
Who wins the NFC North may come down to the last week, but it is great to see Nelson is still confident that his team can win the division.
