LeSean McCoy says replacement ref got on him about his fantasy team
If there isn’t enough bad things to say about the replacement NFL officials, add this to that list.
In Sunday’s win over the Baltimore Ravens, Eagles running back LeSean McCoy was told by a replacement ref that he needed him to step it up for his fantasy team.
“They’re like fans, kind of though,” McCoy said to 94WIP’s Anthony Gargano and Ike Reese. “I’ll be honest, they’re like fans. One of the refs was talking about his fantasy team, like ‘McCoy, come on, I need you for my fantasy,’ ahhh, what?!”
Okay, now don’t get me wrong here. I’m not saying that these guys can’t play fantasy football, but I know damn well when I have a guy on my fantasy team, I’m obviously hoping he can score me some points. I can not control whether he does or not, but in this situation these replacements can do that.
You can’t tell me that if the Eagles are 3rd and goal at the one, and the replacement needs a touchdown from McCoy that he wouldn’t happen to overlook a slight holding call to get that touchdown on his fantasy squad. Maybe he would, maybe he wouldn’t, but I don’t want him on the field if he’s telling guys that he needs to step it up for a fantasy team.
Ray Lewis tried to scare some sense into one of the refs on Sunday, McCoy said.
“During the game, they made like a bad call or something, the ref, and I see Ray Lewis like pump his chest up, trying to scare him,” He said. “(and) Don’t you know [the ref] started stuttering? I’m like ‘what’s this?!'”
This situation is getting out of hand with the replacement officials, and the NFL needs to do something about it, and fast. Week two was atrocious in terms of the zebras, hopefully we can get our guys back as soon as possible.
Update: NFL Spokesperson Greg Aiello says that officials are not permitted to play fantasy football. We imagine something further will happen with this situation.
