The Buffalo Bills made a huge splash by adding superstar free agent Mario Williams this off-season. They also made a quiet acquisition of Mark Anderson, who spend 2011 with rival New England Patriots.

With Pro-Bowl defensive tackle Kyle Williams and sophomore Marcel Dareus, the Bills defensive line is, on paper, one of the best in the league. Some within the Bills camp, believe Mark Anderson will be the player who benefits the most from those around him.

“Explosive — that’s the word that comes to mind when I think of him,” guard Andy Levitre said of the former Patriots defender, according to Mark Gaughan of the Buffalo News.  “He’s just really quick.  He’s got a lot of good moves and he uses them quickly.  He’s dangerous on third downs.  He’s a playmaker, for sure.”

Tackle Chris Hairston agrees.  “I saw it playing him last year against the Patriots,” Hairston said.  “He has that quick twitch.  He has that great first step off the ball, he gets side to side.  He’s showing that explosiveness.”

To Anderson, it’s fairly simple.

“My whole thing is getting off the ball and just reacting to whatever the offense gives me,” Anderson said. “It might seem unorthodox, but I just take what the offense gives me.”

If new defensive coordinator Dave Wannstedt can unleash the linebackers, one of the players on the line may be able to get to the quarterback. Most assume teams will be focusing on Mario Williams and Kyle Williams, leaving Mark Anderson left guarded by one man.
