Over The Middle: Top 5 Fantasy Wide Receivers of Week 8

  • DND Staff

This is a great week if you own a top receiver as many of them have great match-ups. Megatron is going up against a pretty bad Dallas Cowboy pass defense. Jordy Nelson has Minnesota this week. Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker all play Washington this week.. you get the idea. Let’s get right into my rankings.

Just missed the cut: Vincent Jackson, Wes Welker, and DeSean Jackson

5. A.J. Green

A.J. Green has over 100 yards and a touchdown in each of his last two games. He is without a doubt one of the most talented receivers in the NFL. His match-up this week isn’t amazing but the Jets definitely don’t have a great secondary, but it’s certainly not horrible. Bottom Line: You’re starting A.J. Green this week, and he should produce great numbers against the Jets.

4. Demaryius Thomas

Demaryius Thomas is an elite receiver, and it never hurts to have Peyton Manning throwing you the ball. Thomas also has a perfect match-up this week  against the Washington Redskins. I would expect an absolute monster game from Demaryius Thomas.

3. Dez Bryant

Dez Bryant thinks that he’s just as good as Calvin Johnson. There is a great chance the Cowboys vs Lions game will end up in a shootout, which is exactly what Bryant owners would love to happen. I’m sure Bryant would love to out play Calvin Johnson as well. Expect a massive fantasy week for Dez Bryant.

2. Jordy Nelson

This may surprise many of you, but I just love this match-up against the Vikings. In addition to a great match-up, Randall Cobb is out until at least week  15, maybe for the rest of year, James Jones is not 100%, Jermichael Finley is most likely done for the year, so Jordy Nelson will get a TON of targets and is probably the safest bet for 75 yards and a TD as anybody on this list (except the guy  at #1).

1. Calvin Johnson

Calvin Johnston with without question the best WR in the NFL. Megatron had 9 catches for 155 yards and 2 TD’s last week against a good Cincinnati defense, just imagine what he’s going to do against a very average, maybe below average Dallas Cowboy defense.
