Mike Mularkey: Chad Henne is auditioning to be Jags’ 2013 starter
When Blaine Gabbert was injured against the Indianapolis Colts, back up quarterback Chad Henne came into the game. Last week, as the team’s starter, Henne looked impressive as he led the team to an overtime loss to the Houston Texans. Despite the loss, Henne threw for four touchdowns and had a 126.8 quarterback rating.
With the Jaguars currently owning the second draft pick in 2013, some wondered if the team would draft a new quarterback. Now, Gabbert’s future with the team is in question even if they do not draft a quarterback in the first round.
Jaguars coach Mike Mularkey said that if Henne performs well over the rest of the season, he will be named the starter for the 2013 NFL season. Mularkey went on to say that every member of the team is currently being evaluated for the 2013 season.
“Every game they play they have a chance to either keep their job or earn their job — every player,” Mularkey said.
Henne did not work out in Miami and probably won’t work out in Jacksonville.
