New playoff system format to be named ‘National Championship Series’?

At the current time, not much is known about the playoff system, that is set to start following the 2014 season, other than that the BCS will cease to exist.

One of the many unknowns is the name of the future playoff system. The thing that is known for sure is that the name will not be Bowl Championship Series.

For those concerned over these kind of details, Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby has seemingly come to the rescue.  In an interview with the San Antonio Express-News, Bowlsby said that he’s “very excited about what has happened with the BCS, which will be probably known as the national championship series going forward.”

So, there you have it.  From “Bowl Championship Series” to “National Championship Series.”  Maybe.

The National Championship Series is nothing special but I cannot complain too much as at least we, as football fans, are finally getting a playoff system. Maybe the name will not matter too much or maybe they will actually change the name (which is not 100% set in stone).

What do you think about the name?
