New York Jets Teammates: “Tebow is Terrible!”

Per a report by Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News, there isn’t a Jets player outside of Tim Tebow who wants him to be the New York Jets starting quarterback. Mehta said that more than a dozen Jets players and members of the organization do not think Tebow is very good. A defensive starter characterized Tebow as “terrible.” Players on both sides of the ball criticized Tebow’s performances in practice, echoing a sentiment that has followed Tebow since he was with the Denver Broncos. The players also stated Tebow has not shown in improvement at the quarterback position since he arrived in March.

The fact that the Jets locker room does not show support for Tebow to start at quarterback despite the horrific play of starter Mark Sanchez and a 3-6 Jets record says a lot. It is obvious that head coach Rex Ryan is not being stubborn with his insistence that Tebow will not start over Sanchez.

Sanchez has the league worst completion percentage (52%) and leads the league with four red-zone interceptions. In the Seattle game Sunday, Jets wide receiver Stephen Hill can be seen in the end zone, wide-open and doing jumping jacks while Sanchez threw an interception. (You can see the picture here)

A staunch Sanchez supporter, left guard Matt Slauson, made it clear that going with Tebow wasn’t even an option: “It’s not even close. All the other quarterbacks know it. I have all the confidence in Mark. We don’t really have a choice.” When pressed about other quarterbacks on the depth chart, Tebow and Greg McElroy, Slauson was even more damning of Tebow’s quarterbacking potential: “We have Greg . . . and we have an athlete,” Slauson said.

Another veteran, when asked if Tebow could win the starting position asked if he really had to answer the question, while shaking his head.

Another starter echoed Slauson’s sentiments:  “We don’t look at him as a quarterback. He’s the Wildcat guy.”

When asked about trying to run the Wildcat Offense more, another starter was emphatic: “Hell, no! You got to keep defenses honest. You just can’t line up in the Wildcat all the time. That won’t work.”

To quote Mehta’s article directly:

“So, who wants Tebow to be the starter?

‘Nobody,’ a member of the team said.”

I wonder if Tebow is still “so excited to be a Jet.”

  • Good luck with SBRForum.com. Just to warn you they don’t pay and back-out on advertising deals.

  • Tebow is not “terrible”. The Jets are terrible. Tebow is simply on the wrong team. If they are not happy with him, then trade him. Problem solved.

  • XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ATTENTION JACKSONVILLE FANS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Please, you guys out in Florida somehow ban together and get Jacksonville to trade for Tebow – the Jets don’t deserve him…. I have never liked the Jets and have tried since Tebow joined them. The Jets don’t realize what they have just like Elway…. I’m a Bronco fan and I watched Tebow – HE HAS THE “IT” FACTOR, HE KNOWS HOW TO WIN!!! The Jets need WINS right now and they are such a depressed team they turn on each other…. I wish Tebow was still in Denver – Manning is a legend and won’t play forever – I hate how Elway just threw Tebow away, I hate what the Jets are doing to Tebow… PLEASE FLORIDA FANS, UNITE TOGETHER AND GET TEBOW ON THE JAGUARS!!!! I really think with the teams records in the AFC, the top 6 teams are already penciled in, so even if Tebow was to start and win all 7 left games the Jets still wouldn’t make the playoffs – – – – PUSH, CREATE BILLBOARDS, FLYERS, TELL THE JACKSONVILLE OWNERSHIP TO DO WHAT IT TAKES TO GET TEBOW BACK HOME – HE NEEDS YOU – AND YOU NEED HIM. F THE JETS!!!!

  • Tim Tebow is “terrible” ? The cowardly “genius” who said this should be running the team–maybe as head coach or offensive coordinator. What would this defensive back think if the two quarterbacks said publicly, “Oh, that d.b. is terrible…..he’s just an athlete not a corner back.”
People: THINK before you talk. The media loves to stir the pot and cause anxiety and chaos with the team. Last time I looked Tebow is a member of the team and not an outsider.
So, if Sanchez gets hurt, the offensive coordinator and head coach and q .b. coach can get together with the 2nd and 3rd string q.b.’s and pick 10 plays to run: Run right, run left, fake run throw the ball to check down receiver, pass, pass, pass, qb draw. Believe me; if offensive line blocks, Tebow can pick up yards.
If the receivers run their patterns correctly and get separation from the defender Tebow can put the ball in the “window” so only the Jet receiver can catch it. Special teams: kick-off returns, punt returns for t.d.s. The defense can swoop and score –defense can score t.d.s as well. This is a TEAM sport. Let’s hang together and win. Tebow can win.
God bless the Jets, Go Sanchez, Go Tebow

  • I’ve never liked the name Tebow for some reason. Sounds like somthing you shoot an arrow with. Drop the big ego and be happy with getting the big bucks while not having to do much. I mean, he still gets paid does’nt he? A quarterback is not the whole team, though it seems like it at the end of the game when he gets interviewed. How about the guys in the trenches. Why don’t they get interviewed after protecting the delicate guy the whole game. I enjoy watching the action where the action is really happening, the matchups up front. Most anybody can throw a ball, but try and stop 250lbs of mean muscle trying to get past you.
