Just over a  month after the horrific tragedy that took place at Sandy Hook Elementary School, where 26 students and faculty members were killed, a group of 26 students of from the same school in Newtown, Connecticut will sing America the Beautiful prior to kick-off of Super Bowl XLVII at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

To this point, the NFL as shown their support for Newtown not only through their players, such as Victor Cruz with his shoes, but also with helmet stickers  that read “S. H. E. S.”, moments of silence, and other various visitations with the league’s players. Now 26 of the students from the town will become a part of the Mecca of American television on Sunday night.

26 children from the elementary school and their families will be given a flight to New Orleans, Louisiana, where the Super Bowl is being held. The group will sing prior to Alicia King performing the National Anthem.

It’s another great gesture to the people of Newtown by the NFL, who has continued to be nothing short of awe-inspiring.
