NFL says Brandon Marshall will be ejected if he wears green shoes
The No Fun League strikes again! Yesterday, Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall said this Thursday he will wear green shoes in support of his charity that focuses on mental health disorders. While players around the league are currently wearing pink shoes, gloves and other accessories to show their support for breast cancer awareness, Marshall says he does not want his green shoes to steal the breast cancer awareness spotlight.
“I’m going to get fined and I’m going to match that, and we want to partner with a cancer-care [charity],” Marshall said. “We’re still working on the details to give, really give back to an organization that is doing work in the mental health area. [Also], the diagnosis of breast cancer can hit families hard. It affects all of us.”
In 2011, Marshall was diagnosed with a borderline personality disorder.
Mental Health Awareness Week began last Sunday and runs through this Saturday.
An ejection is a bit extreme and the NFL should allow Marshall to wear green shoes for one week.
The NFL has threatened fellow Bears receiver Earl Bennett if he wore orange shoes for one game. Bennett complied with the NFL and chose not to wear the shoes.
