NFL trade deadline extended to Thursday
Hurricane Sandy is making her presence known along the East Coast, and the NFL League Office is amongst those taking notice. The trade deadline. which was originally scheduled for tomorrow, falling right in place with the eye of the storm. In order to avoid any circumstances where teams may be trying to close a deal, but don’t have time or the resources due to power outages etc., the NFL has made the decision to instead extend the deadline to Thursday.
This is a minor, but very intelligent move by the NFL, and Roger Goodell, who could use some good PR. Having a trade deadline right in the middle of a hurricane just doesn’t make any sense, and the league was wise to consider this situation, and take Sandy seriously. This will surely give time for some teams to make some moves, and maybe for some prominent players to find new homes by the start of week nine on Sunday.
