Oscar winner Sean Fine wore RG3 socks to ceremony

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has had a profound effect on the team’s fan base, giving them new hope for a bright future. On Sunday, Redskins fan and documentary filmmaker Sean Fine channeled the star quarterback’s energy, taking RG3’s fashion to the Oscars.

Sean and his wife, Andrea Nix Fine, won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Short for their film Inocente. Sean Fine has deep ties to the Washington, D.C. area and the Redskins organization, and represented both of those groups well at the Oscar ceremony. After winning the award, Fine’s first tweet was directed to Griffin. Check it out:

Fine’s grandfather, Nate Fine, was a photographer who worked for 51 years with the Redskins organization. Through 1988, Nate coordinated the game tape at every Washington game. When Nate was sick in 1988 and the Redskins were facing the Broncos in Super Bowl XXII, the team dedicated the victory to Nate, who died three months after the victory.

It appears that, in a roundabout way, the favor has been returned, with Nate’s grandson riding to Oscar victory in socks honoring the new face of the Redskins.
