Pierre Garcon: We can be the top offense in the league
Last season, the Washington Redskins were the shocking offense of the NFL. Not only did rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III have a spectacular season with 3,200 passing yards, 20 passing touchdowns, 815 rushing yards and 7 rushing touchdowns, but Alfred Morris was a surprise as well. Morris ended the season with 1,613 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns as he took over the starting position.
By the end of the season the Redskins scored 436 points points, ranking them 4th in the NFL.
As the Redskins begin training camp, Pierre Garcon believes this season’s offense will be the best in the league.
“We have the potential to be the best offense ever, really,” Garcon told reporters Thursday. “We can be the top offense in the league. We have a lot of great players at every position. We have a great offensive line, great tight ends, great receivers, running backs and quarterback.”
Garcon cites the team’s offensive weapons as the reason why he thinks the Redskins will have a high powered offense.
“It definitely helps having a lot of weapons out there on offense,” Garcon said. “With Fred back, he’s like another receiver and he does a great job blocking — does a great job of whenever he gets the ball, being able to score from anywhere on the field.”
Garcon also thinks another year with Robert Griffin III at the helm will make the team better.
“He throws the ball, and I just go get it wherever he puts it,” Garcon said. “We continue to be on the same page. We understand the playbook a little better now. Our chemistry will be better than ever. Whenever Robert gets back out there, whenever he can throw with the team, we’re going to continue to grow.”
If the Redskins want to have the best offense ever, they will have to break the 2007 New England Patriots record of 589 points.
While the Redskins could have a top 5 offense (again), I think the Broncos will lead the league in points.
