Monday morning in Cortland, NY, fans and reporters scattered away from New York Jets practice field as a 20-player brawl erupted.
It started when safety D’Anton Lynn gave running back Joe McKnight a shove out of bounds following a screen pass. McKnight then fired the ball at Lynn in frustration, and immediately the two went at it with McKnight charging and throwing the first blow. It was only a matter of seconds before members of offensive and defensive units ran over, creating a massive pile-up.
Head coach Rex Ryan ran over and starting picking players out of the pile. Order was quickly restored in about a minute. No comments or reasonings have been given yet. One can only assume perhaps it’s just a case of the mondays in New York’s training camp.
