Rams MNF Spotlight Dim With World Series

The St. Louis Rams will take the Monday Night Football spotlight when the Seattle Seahawks come to town.  This is the first time since 2006 that the Rams have played on the Monday night stage.  Unfortunately for the 3-4 team, they’ll have to share it has the Cardinals host the Red Sox for Game 5 of the World Series.

While football fans will be keying in on the action at the Edward Jones Dome, just down the road at Busch stadium, the sports world will be focused on playoff baseball.  Surely the people of St. Louis will choose to pay attention to a game in which a championship is at stake as opposed to a Week 8 NFL game.

“It’s really not something that I can worry about, but we’ll take everybody we can get,” quarterback Kellen Clemens said.”  “So, hopefully the Cardinals are blowing them out early and everybody wants to leave Busch Stadium and come join the party.”

In an attempt to draw fans in on a special night in downtown St. Louis, the Rams will open the doors and allow fans to enter their Bud Light Party Zone, where they’ll be provided pregame specials along with coverage of the World Series.

“We’re going to broadcast what’s going on in the stadium, so whoever’s there, we’re going to keep them updated,” Rams coach Jeff Fisher said.  “We’ll see if we can show some highlights and keep them posted on the score.”

STLCardsHad the Cardinals not lost a game in Boston earlier this week, there would be a chance that the Rams wouldn’t have to be put in this situation.  With the series now split, there indeed will be a Game 5.  Still, it will be an NFL game that is sure to bring in fans, and Fisher expects no less from them.

“They’ll be loud,” Fisher said.  “If they come, they’re going to be loud, yeah.  We expect a great crowd.  It’s a great environment.  Monday Night Football is a great environment.”

While the World Series is about as even a match up as it can get, the Rams are underdogs at home this week, and will need all the help from the people of St. Louis that they can get.
