Ray Lewis to Haloti Ngata, “I’ll be back”
After suffering a torn triceps injury last weekend against the Dallas Cowboys, it was unsure whether Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis would ever play another a snap in the NFL. The 37 year old Lewis is nearing the end of his career despite still playing at such a high level. While Lewis has yet to make an official announcement, teammate Haloti Ngata says Lewis told him he will be back.
The pair had a conversation earlier this week and Ngata talked to NFL Network’s Melissa Stark about what was said between the two.
“I believe and he believes he will be back. Just knowing him, talking to him a day ago, (he was saying) ‘I’ll be back, don’t worry.’“
Whether that means Lewis will be back next season or hopes to return this season is unclear. Baltimore left the door open for a return this season by placing Lewis on the injured reserve, designated for return list.
While head coach John Harbaugh said it would be a long shot that Lewis returns this season, Ngata feels there is a possibility he will return this year.
“I don’t know what other guys believe, but I definitely believe he will be back,” said Ngata.
“Knowing the work ethic he has, he is going to work his butt off to get back on the field with us.”
