Redskins Tight End Fred Davis: “We fall asleep during Team Meetings”

Sometimes when things go wrong, they go REALLY wrong. As is the case with the Washington Redskins.

They’ve struggled throughout the season, posting a 2-5 record to this point and it’s not looking like they’ll get things turned around. The coaching staff is under scrutiny for the lack of effort on both sides of the ball, and aside from the aforementioned two wins, the team does not look like they are prepared for the NFL.

Part of this reasoning is because the players don’t seem to care, they seem uninterested week in and week out (Aside from Shanahan’s return to Denver – I’ll give them credit for showing up there). Yes, these are professional athletes, but some of these guys have treated the campaign like they’re only there for a paycheck.

One of the biggest culprits is tight end Fred Davis, who was reportedly being shopped heavy around the league before the trade deadline – and part of his problem is that he doesn’t care – which he proved to USA Today when he said that he – and others – fall asleep during team meetings.

“I’ve never slept through a whole meeting, but I’ve nodded off,” Davis said via Jim Corbett of USA Today Sports. “I mean everyone nods off. It’s dark in there. You nod off You wake up — go get something to drink and go back.

“I’ve done that.”

It could be part of the reason that Davis has been demoted and listed as inactive the last two weeks, and after seeing the report, Davis will be lucky to see the field again for the Redskins, which is something he wouldn’t mind.

“It’s frustrating not to be out there because I know there are plays I could make,” Davis said. “I just want to play. I like it here. I was drafted here. But at the same time, I want to play. If I can’t play here, then, I’d rather play somewhere else.”

He told Corbett that he’d definitely help out another team and that we’d “see what he could do” in the report.

Davis is a free agent at the end of the season, and my guess is the Redskins won’t be bringing him back.
