In the offseason when it was announced that Ravens LB Terrell Suggs suffered a Torn Achilles Tendon in an individual workout, many thought that Suggs would be done for the season.

He said he’d be back sometime during the year, but that was a long shot. The team placed him on the physically-unable-to-perform list and activated him on Wednesday in a shocking move.

Even though he’s been removed from the PUP list, it was still a long shot for him to see any game action until November, just months after enduring the injury in April.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Suggs plans on playing on Sunday against the Houston Texans.

“Despite returning to practice only Wednesday from a torn Achilles in April, Ravens LB Terrell Suggs is targeting and expecting to play Sunday versus Houston, according to league sources. Sources said that even Suggs’ family and friends have plans to travel to Houston in anticipation of watching him stage one of the quickest returns from this type of significant injury that any athlete ever has. “Yes, that’s still the plan,” one source texted today. “

This would be a great lift for the Ravens defense who got bad news this week when it was announced Lardarius Webb and Ray Lewis would be out for the rest of the year.

If the Ravens are smart, which they are, they will make sure that the reigning defensive player of the year is more than 100%, as this would be the fastest turnaround from a blown Achilles in league history. A setback could possibly put him in harms way for next season.
