Seahawks Irvin predicts he will have double digit sacks in 2012
On Tuesday Seahawks first round draft pick Bruce Irvin predicted he will have double digit sacks in 2012. I wonder if he still thinks those sacks will come with the Washington Redskins.
When asked how many sacks he was going to get this year, Irvin responded with a surprisingly confident answer. “I don’t wanna say, I feel like it may jinx it, but its gonna be double digits,” Irvin replied. “All Day”
The surprising first round draft pick seems to be extra confident headed into the season this year. Currently it looks like Irvin will be playing third down and other pass rush situations. However, there is a chance he could become a starter if he has a great training camp and pre-season or if a player like Chris Clemons sits out over contract disputes.
I am torn on whether or not confidence is a good thing or not. Of course, I want my rookie to actually think he can play but over confidence can sometimes lead to their downfall if they fail to meet those expectations. I would rather have my rookie let his play do the talking before he becomes overconfident. It will be interesting to see if Irvin can get double digit sacks for the
Redskins, err Seahawks. I think he will be a bust, but perhaps he will prove me wrong.
