Seahawks linebacker pretends to be Russell Wilson to get a reservation
When you are a part of a team with an NFL best 11-1 record, you would think it would be easy to get a table at a local restaurant. Instead, as Seattle Seahawks linebacker Michael Bennett found out, only one member of the team gets preferential treatment in Seattle. On Tuesday, Bennett tried to get reservations at an exclusive Seattle restaurant but was told they were all booked up.
Some people might take this a hint that they needed to find a different restaurant for dinner.
Instead, Bennett came up with a sneaky plan in order to get a table.
“I called them back a few minutes later,” he said. “I said, ‘Hey, this is Russell Wilson. I’ll be attending your restaurant today. Do you have any tables?’
“And she was like, ‘Yes! We can make a table for you! You were 22-for-30 the other night, 130 quarterback rating!’ She knew every stat.”
Of course, the jig was up when Bennett got to the restaurant as he is taller, heavier and looks nothing like Russell Wilson. Still, according to Bennett, he got treated like a star by the restaurant and their staff.
“I got to the restaurant with my wife and kids,” Bennett said. “I said, ‘Oh, thank you. I’m Russell Wilson.’ She was like, ‘Good joke.’ I said, ‘Gotcha.’ ”
“She took me to the table and they had it roped off,” Bennett said. “They had sparkling water and everything.”
I wonder how many people will try to get a reservation in Seattle by using Russell Wilson’s name after hearing this story.
Unfortunately, I would bet if anyone tries this they will be thrown out of the place.
