Seahawks and Sounders to Visit Mudslide Community in Washington
Members of the NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and MLS’s Seattle Sounders plan to rally up and meet with a community affected by the horrific Washington State mudslide. It struck the nearby mountainside community of Oso, just north of Seattle on March 22, resulting in more than 20 dead and leaving more than two dozen missing. It was one of the deadliest landslides in the history of the U.S.
A spokeswoman for the crew working on the eastern portion of the slide, Kris Rietmann, said that Seahawks and Sounders players will meet with children among others at the Darringoton Community Center Monday evening. The Seattle Seahawks encourage people to donate to the relief efforts, and the ‘Hawks said in a statement that they plan “to offer support and encouragement to this community as privately as possible.”
Seattle’s professional sports organizations, like many around the nation, are always fast to support their communities, and the Seahawks and Sounders are a perfect illustration of that. Our best wishes go to those involved in the terrible mudslide in Washington.
