Steelers WR Emmanuel Sanders Fined $50K for faking injury in week 7
During their week seven match up against the Bengals, the Pittsburgh Steelers led 24-17 late into the fourth quarter. As the team started a drive with seven and a half minutes left in the game they looked to milk the clock and possibly score more points. On second down, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was sacked. With the team hoping to get in field goal range, and not wanting to spend another time out, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders fell down with an apparent injury.
What Sanders was actually doing was obvious to everyone, even the announcers. Sanders knew that if he faked an injury, he would only have to sit out one play and the clock would be stopped for an injury time out.

After spending a few weeks reviewing the play, today, the NFL has announced that Emmanuel Sanders and the Pittsburgh Steelers have been fined. According to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com, Sanders has been fined 15,000 dollars himself and the team has been fined 35,000 dollars, for a total of 50,000 dollars.
Canfora, added that because the account Sanders gave to the NFL of the incident was different from those of others and because he showed no signs of cramps he was fined.
