Stephon Gilmore Finds Yoga
According to Chris Brown’s blog, Stephon Gilmore has started doing yoga this offseason to help keep in shape.
Gilmore told Buffalobills.com that, “I just started it this offseason, I’m starting to like it. I think it won’t hurt to keep doing it and I think it’s helped me out so far. It’s hard. It’s a workout,” he said. “It’s harder than lifting weights because football players are so strong and so tight, yoga is real hard.” “You just feel more loose,” he said. “It’s hard to explain, but your shoulders and your legs, you just feel like a new person.”
Gilmore was expected to make a huge leap in his second season after being drafted 10th overall by the Buffalo Bills in the 2012 Draft. Unfortunately, he broke his left wrist in the preseason and missed the first five games of the season. Then he played the rest of the season with practically one arm as he struggled to adjust to wearing a club and having pins in his wrist. He had to learn to play the position completely different from what he was use to and rely on his legs more than being physical at the line of scrimmage. This must have opened his eyes to how yoga will be able to help him throughout his career. Look for Stephon to be a shutdown corner this year for the Bills.
