Titans’ Owner Bud Adams pushing for Peyton Manning
Per a report from Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean, Titans owner Bud Adams told Wyatt that he wants Peyton Manning and he will spend whatever it costs to acquire the Free Agent QB
“He is the man I want. Period,” Adams said. “And the people that work for me understand that. They know who I want. I want Mr. Manning with the Titans and I will be disappointed if it doesn’t happen.”
Wyatt also said that Titans General Manager Ruston Webster, Chief Operating Officer Mike Reinfeldt and Coach Mike Munchak could not immediately be reached for comment.
The Peyton Manning watch has been the top headline since his release from Indianapolis Wednesday, and he’s visited with the Denver Broncos and the Arizona Cardinals already. There are several teams that are interested in Manning, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported the day after Manning was released that twelve teams contacted his agent Tom Condon.
The Titans however, have two QB’s currently on the roster. Matt Hasselbeck who has two years left on his $20 million contract, and last years 8th overall pick in the draft, Jake Locker who has 3 years left on his $12.585 million deal. If Adams gets what he wants and the Titans sign Manning, that’s a pretty impressive 1-2-3 of QB’s for one team, but a whole lot of money stuffed into one position.
