Yesterday, the Detroit Lions released the often disobedient and out-spoken wide receiver Titus Young. Young took to Twitter earlier this off-season to tell Lions fans that he did not want to play for the team if he was not going to be a part of the game plan. Today, NFL.com has uncovered an article from last week by the Detroit News, that portrays Young as potentially having mental and emotional instabilities.

According to Chris McCosky, the Detroit News author of the article on Young, says the team has pleaded with Young to get help by visiting a therapist. Unfortunately, Young refused to see a therapist.

Throughout the 2012 season and off-season, Young has posted a number of rather delusional tweets on his Twitter feed.

Young has posted tweets such as “Oh I’m not done, if y’all going to cut me let me go. I’m tired of the threats” and “Never needed the money Give me a dollar and a ball bet I come back #HallofFame.”

The wide receiver also had an interesting conversation with his high school coach E.C. Robinson over Christmas.

According to Robinson, Young told him that he believed he was every bit as good as star receiver Calvin Johnson.

“He did tell me he thought he was just as good Megatron,” Robinson told the Detroit Free Press. “I said, ‘Come on, man. Who you talking to?’ I said, ‘Come on, you’re as good as that guy? This guy is the real deal.’ And he really believes this. And he was sincere about it. ‘Ah man, I’m better than him.’ I said, ‘No you’re not. Be real man. Come on.’ So I don’t know, I’m hoping for the best for him.”

If Young gets another shot at the NFL, hopefully he gets some help before signing to another team.
